Privacy Policy
Who I am
My website address is https://familyquesters.com.
Children’s privacy and personal information
This Privacy Policy outlines how personal information is handled on this blog and course site. I do not intentionally collect, store, or publish personally identifiable information about individuals, especially minors, including facial images, full names, or other identifying details. If you believe that any such information has been posted on this site, please contact me so that it can be removed. Your privacy is my priority, and I am committed to protecting any information you choose to share.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to either the blog or the course site, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the websites can download and extract any location data from images on the websites.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on my sites you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles and course content on these sites may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third‑party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
What information I collect
When you use my blog or course site, I may collect:
- Information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, and any details you include in comments, contact forms, or course enrollment forms.
- Technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, which may be collected automatically by my hosting provider or security tools.
I do not deliberately collect sensitive personal information, and I do not use automated decision‑making or profiling based on your data.
Course data and Masteriyo LMS
This course site uses the Masteriyo Learning Management System (LMS) plugin to deliver online courses. When you enroll in a course, Masteriyo may collect and store information such as your name, email address, enrollment status, course progress, quiz results, and activity related to the lessons you access. This data is stored in my WordPress site’s database and is used only to manage your enrollment, provide course content, and improve the learning experience. Masteriyo may also offer usage tracking and analytics features inside my site; these features are used to understand how courses are used and to support students, not for advertising or profiling outside these sites. For more details about Masteriyo’s own data practices, you can refer to Masteriyo’s privacy policy on their website.
Who I share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment on either site, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow‑up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on my sites (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Course‑related data (such as enrollments and progress) may also be retained as long as your account is active or as long as necessary to provide course access and maintain records required for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
How I protect your data
I use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures may include secure hosting, access controls, and regular updates to the site software. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on either site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
You can exercise these rights by contacting me using the details provided in the “Contact me” section below.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Contact me
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, how your data is handled, or if you believe information about a minor has been posted on either site, you can contact me at contact@familyquesters.com.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the sites or applicable laws. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the sites after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
